Casey Cappo enters his first season as head coach of AIA Prep Black in Xenia, Ohio, after relocating from California in 2025. With an intense passion for developing players both on and off the court, he emphasizes growth in character, skill, and leadership. He has developed valuable coaching experience at high-level camps, including Excel in Basketball, and with AAU programs such as Procademy.
Before coaching, Cappo enjoyed a decorated playing career. He began at Diablo Valley College, where he averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game, earning First Team All-League and First Team All-Northern California Freshman honors. He then transferred to BIOLA University, where he played for three years and was a two-year starter and two-year captain under Coach Dave Holmquist, who ranks fourth on the all-time college coaching wins leaderboard across men’s and women’s divisions. In his senior season, Cappo was named First Team All-PacWest, voted to the D2CCA All-West Region Second Team, and selected to the NABC DII Second Team All-West District—one of only 10 players honored across both teams. That year, he led BIOLA to only its second-ever NCAA Tournament berth, finishing as the team’s leading scorer (16 ppg) and rebounder (7 rpg). The Eagles posted a 22–6 regular season record, highlighted by an 11-game win streak.
Off the court, Cappo earned a degree in Bible Theology and Ministry at BIOLA, where he developed a passion for sports ministry. He served as a leader within the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), frequently speaking to student-athletes and mentoring peers. This love for integrating faith and athletics now informs his coaching: he guides his athletes not only to competitive excellence, but also to lasting character and purpose through Christ-centered living.
Casey is happily married to his wife, Annaka, as of June 2025. The two recently moved to Xenia, where they are excited to put down roots and invest in their new community.
