Student-Athlete Performance & Nutrition

Human Performance
Athletes in Action has a robust Sports Performance Center onsite, including an elite Strength, Conditioning, and Athletic Training staff, each of whom is highly skilled in their area of expertise. The "Total Athlete Design Lab", as the Sports Performance Center is also called, employs foundational athletic training with an emphasis on injury prevention, mobility, flexibility, speed, power, strength, force, and stamina, as well as daily training on mentality including assessments, strategies, and techniques for student-athletes to develop a strong mindset and be at their best when under pressure. Recovery is the last major emphasis, with advanced daily recovery modalities to get the most from every training session, and retain the ability to perform at a high level on and off the court.

The training program from the world class strength and conditioning staff has six key components, each of which is focused and tailor made for basketball athletes, and are enforced on a daily and weekly basis:
  • Assessment- integrated clinical knowledge and expertise with the latest basketball-specific research on movement and force development.
  • Force- the athlete can hold their position in the paint, improve their ability to finish with contact, and increase shooting range.
  • Speed- the athlete improves first step explosiveness, no-step vertical, lateral quickness, and full-court burst for being ahead on the break.
  • Power- the athlete improves the ability to box out, rebound, block shots and deliver a powerful finish at the rim.
  • Recovery- end each training with recovery in a dedicated Athletic Training room that incorporates Normatec, HyperVolt+, and other advanced modalities.
  • Injury Prevention- credentialed Athletic Training professionals meet daily with the athlete so as to protect against potential injuries.
Nutrition
In addition to the completely comprehensive physical care offered by the Total Athlete Design Lab, AIA Prep also has a dedicated, onsite chef, that prepares three meals per day for student-athletes six days per week (Monday to Saturday). The diet is built by athletes in association with nutrition professionals, to ensure all needs are being met from a caloric and nutritive standpoint, while also offering a wide range of delicious meals on the weekly menu. A sample of what is offered on a week to week basis can be seen here.
